About the event
We're kicking off our next Book Club Read for September and we're doing things a little differently this time to shake things up!
We'll have a meet up on August 25th at 12PM to choose which book we're reading next and talk about what we read over our summer break!Â
Here’s how we’ll play the game:
- Each person brings a few book suggestions
- All the suggestions are put in a bowl
- We’ll take turns drawing a suggestion from the bowl
- The paper drawn is what "we are not reading" and we keep going until only one book is left
- The last paper remaining is the one "we will be reading" for September! See an example here
Even if you don't want to read that book for September, we'd love to have you join on the 26th & catch up on what WIPs you've completed and hear what books you've read recently! Can't make it, but want to send in a submission for the next read? Send your suggestions here!
Update: The Salad Bowl has picked Happiness Falls by Angie KimÂ
We'll have a meet up on Sept 15th at 11AM to discuss the first half of the book. BYOC (bring your own caffeine) and stitch together with your fellow bookworms. We'll read through Part III/ Chapter 18 (stopping at Part IV).
On Sept 29th at 12PM we'll meet up for a for a post morteum and to show off your progress (maybe even your FO) on what you worked on while you were reading the book. We'll plan to pick the next book read at this meeting as well using the same game as before (if we liked how that went!)
Ashley has some ideas for themed treats, fun activities like who would you cast in the movie adaptation, and a new magnetic bookmark in the works! Have other suggestions for how to make book club even better? Send your suggestions here!
